Cordia dodecandra is a plant in the borage (Boraginaceae) family of the Cordia genus and found in Central America, where it is known as ziricote or siricote. It is distributed across Central America and the Caribbean, occurring in Mexico (Veracruz, Chiapas, Yucatan and Campeche states) Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Cuba. Ziricote is an attractive, heavy tropical hard wood. It is primarily used as a tonewood for musical instruments or for furniture making.
